Achieving and maintaining effective parent involvment has been a constant problem for schools in general. Academy Concepts, therefore, acted upon the concerns of the diverse groups which must be involved in such programs. The result of this effort is The PARENT ACADEMY, the only packaged program designed and organized to meet the needs of volunteers working in our schools.

A glaring concern expressed by the educational staff and administrators is that most volunteer programs require burdensome record-keeping, which often detracts from the instructional program. The PARENT ACADEMY is designed to be directed by one person, the principal's designee.

The structure and language of the PARENT ACADEMY kit is specifically aimed at making the parents aware of:

• Activites which are generally recognized as necessary for parent involvment.
• Incentives and recognition for participation.
• Routines and procedures for all participants alike.
