NBA Hang Time

History

Midway released an arcade hit called NBA Jam that has caused waves of excitement in the cyber basketball world. NBA Jam gave players the ability to jump right out of the arena giving them super human powers of playing. NBA Jam features two on two play wheich you can select names like Rodman, Pippen, Payton, and Kemp.

While the concept of NBA Jam must be sound since it caused so much excitement, some of the more traditional cyber-basketball players may want to stick with NBA Live 97 or otehr exciting basketball titles that feature more normal super human prowess. But then again, if your desire to fly exceeds normal limits, and basketball purism is not your thing NBA Jam and its sequel, NBA Hang Time may just be your cup of tea.

Company Line

Hang on for the time of your life! Soar thru the air and slam one home against the big boys! This game rocks with special moves, burnin' hoops and high flyin' double dunks! All 29 NBA teams represented with 5 man rosters! Secret codes enable hidden characters, arenas and options! Unique features include team fire, alley oops, double dunks & spin moves!

Game Play

Create your own player if the ones included do not help you. Every player plays exactly the same without any unique features anyway so creating characters really will not matter to game play. But you may like the unique feature of creating human characters with chicken, pig, or pirate heads.

If you are the kind of player who gets bored with double dunks, half-court shots, alley-oops, crazy dunks, and turbo moves, well this is not your kind of basketball computer game. Because that is what these players do all the time.

Also, there are no NBA rules and you can slam the other players around resulting in realistic grunts and whoops, without being called for a foul. All 29 NBA teams are included with five players per team that you can combine to form your two on two combinations.

Plot

The NBA has gone nuts, probably taken over by aliens and they have thrown league rules out the window. Tournaments and all games are played on a 2 on 2 basis. Players now have super human abilities, and for the first time approach earning their pay.

Graphics

The croud reacts well to the onscreen antics. People stand and cheer with their arms in the air. People and players both on the court and off act and look differently.

Animation

Voice Actors

Music Score

The aliens have infected the music which is really bad.

Sound Effects

The crowd screams are realistic as are the grunts, whoops, and barfs.

Utilities

YOu can create your own characters

Multi-player Features

Multiplayer features support play for up to four human players on simultaneous play on the same computer. The computer can fill out the roster on multiplayer games so that you have any combination of human and computer characters in the two on two lineup.

Cheats, Hints, Walkthrough

Get a character on fire early in the game by completing three hoops in a row, when on fire a character cannot miss a shot from anywhere in the court.

Journalists

Tom does not like this game and his comments reflect those of most sports' purists. Like any other game purist anything that interferes with the realism as they see it is bad. NBA Hang Time is fun if you can loosen up enough to enjoy it.
